We'd like to share our experience with you on how the campaign went. This is the first time we've ever tried to raise money for our film company and we were surprised by the results.
What we thought would happen:
1. Everyone in the whole world would see how important our film was and tell everyone else so we would raise all the money we needed to get the script written, the office work, final budget, and scouting done, and get the sizzle scene produced, and have some left over.
2. The 2,000 to 20,000 people we know from the internet, family, friends, and others would help us spread the word.
3. We would be in a position to help others by now and to cast our film. LOL
What really happened:
1. A few of us did what we could to get the word out through Facebook and twitter by posting blurbs every day and referring to what was going on in the news that had to do with our film -- which would emphasize why our film was so important.
2. We sent y'all newsletters letting you know what we were doing and asking you to pray and get the word out.
3. We did raise over 1% of the funds we needed.
4. We kept posting updates on the crowd funding campaign.
5. In short, we fell short.
So, crowd funding might not be the way to go to raise a lot of money for our Christian film. After all, we are not super famous and that throws a wrench in the works. But we are determined.
We believe that where God guides he provides and he will provide what we need to fulfill this calling. Our goal is to do ongoing films. Not just Abducted to Kill, the movie.
So, stay with us as we attempt to pull ourselves off the floor and start all over again. We're really not starting over and we are a determined team of professionals.
